I just want to share what I have observed since I started working in mainland China.
Firstly, I was educated in University in HK, and I have been working in HK CG industry for more than 8 years in a senior position, and I also did some teaching job.
Last year I was moved to Mainland Chain and working in a foreign game company.
I found that people around me, who are from mainland China, are really talented, they're attitude are very good as well. Their have a good knowledge about what they are working. More then that, some of them are able to use english in meeting and presentation.
Compare to people studied CG in HK, I can't found that they have any advantage, some of them just study CG or animation course just because they can't get other job, or they think that they are creative and able to work in this field. Most of them are too young and english is not good enough to communicate. (or even can't read a software manuel)
Recently we are hiring people, I really depressed. Although I m in senior position, I found that many very young artist here are really talented, some of them already World know artist, their work are published in Expose ..etc.
So... I don't understand why many HK people still proud of themselves. There are already no difference for technique between HK and mainland. (or even better than HK). Try visit here:

compare the art gallery or speed painting in this cgvisual forum.
Honestly, the difference only in salary level. Already many foreign companies opened in Shanghai, such as Activition, Ubisoft, Massive Black..., because of the low salary and quality of work.
So obviously you notice that which place have more advantages.
Please wake up HK people. If we don't work hard and change your attitude. CG industry in HK will end one day.
